A Giant outing from Zito

Barry Zito, starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, pitched a great game tonight in a win against the Marlins: 8 1/3 innings, no runs, 4 hits, 6 strikeouts, 1 walk.

His last complete game shutout? He only has 4 in his career, in 303 starts. It was April 18th, 2003. The last time he threw 8 innings without allowing a run was August 2004.

Since, let's be honest, the Giants probably weren't counting on much from him for the rest of the year, that would be a gigantic boost if he actually pitched really well the rest of the season. We'll see.
