Pitchers to Watch, 2011
5-27 Starts, 0 Relief Appearances, sub-1.15 WHIP (2010)
Daniel Hudson (White Sox/D-Backs) 14 Starts, 1.00 WHIP
Stephen Strasburg (Nationals) 12, 1.07
Travis Wood (Reds) 17, 1.08
Vincente Padilla (Dodgers) 16, 1.08
Jamie Moyer (Phillies) 19, 1.10
Hudson, 23, and Wood, 24, are clearly the pitchers to watch this year, with Strasburg and Moyer both recovering from Tommy John surgery. Padilla is 33 and hasn't had an ERA under 4.00 since 2003.
Daniel Hudson was one of the best pitchers in the 2nd half (8-2, 2.07 ERA) after being traded to the D-Backs before the trade deadline. Wood made his debut on July 1st and nearly tossed a perfect game in his 3rd start, and pitched solidly for the rest of the season.
